Hello Parents,
We have had an awesome first week here in Kindergarten! Our class has worked very hard to learn how to walk in the hallway, eat in the cafeteria, and to follow our classroom carpet manners. This week we have also learned the rules of how to use scissors, practiced using glue, and writing our names in class. We have been reading stories too! The Kissing Hand by Audery Penn and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin and John Archambault were some of our favorites.
Starting next week each student will have a behavior chart put into their folder that will go home and needs to be returned to school each day. I am asking that a parent or guardian initial the calendar everyday so we know you are up to date with how your student is doing in class. The calendar will have a color code that matches a clip chart in our classroom that students move up and down on corresponding to their behavior on that day.
Next week each student will be receiving a pencil box in class with their names on it. Students may bring in their own crayons and pencils if they have would like (we do have supplies in class for everyone), I know several students have excitedly shown me ones they have in their backpacks to use. This year Kanawha County has started a new science curriculum for all grades that will use a science journal. I am requesting that each student bring in a basic composition notebook to use in class that we will be writing in all year.
At the moment we have plenty of tissues and hand sanitizer in class but when cold and flu season comes we may send out requests for donations. I will be posting weekly newsletters, calendar reminders, and other notices on a class website. You can follow our class at http://msclarkskindergartenclass.weebly.com
Thanks for your time and support,
Ms. Clark and Ms. Lois
